This is the first stage of one big animation short idea I'm doing for myself. I'm hoping to use this diner for more than one animation and so far this project did exactly what it had to do which is to get me pump and ready to move forward.
So this simple piece is inspired by a buddy of mine who haves a unpleasant tattoo and we started brainstorming ideas of how to replace it; both of us being from Guatemala came up with the idea of their national bird, the resplendent quetzal. We also came to the conclusion that the bird have to eat so a bar of seeds seems reasonable.
Been a while since I've shared something new, and seeing that this is a second time I got to play around with this cinematic text from TellTales Games, I felt really good about the changes I've made and different acting choices I made.
So for the last few months I've been putting togehter this animation video which shows the process for installing Snobar and colorbars which is a helpful roof device for areas with snowly climate. The bars help with keeping the snow that piles up on the roof from falling dangerously onto people.
So I decided to take some risks and experiment with more Maya shaders and tools, and focusing on an outdoor environment like this allows me to do all of them. In this project I'm using Mental Ray's Physical Sun and sky, and ocean shader.
As a fan of action series games such as Left 4 Dead, Resident Evil, and Call of Duty, I wanted to start challenging myself with game style environment. Warehouses I feel are common in games and I feel it would be a great place to start.
All my 3D lighting and environment projects are done using Autodesk Maya and Photoshop, and I accomplish my digital paintings through a combination of Coral Painter and Photoshop. Lighting is done through Maya Mental Ray.
Senior Thesis was accomplish using Maya, Renderman, Photoshop, Nuke, and Premiere.
I want to do a more realistic environment so I decide to concentrate on creating the section of the living room I work in. I enjoy this project a lot because I would often get up and look around at the details of every surface and really study how light hits everything.
Right now I live in Ocala, Florida, and since I started working, I end up driving home late at night doing a 45 minutes drive on just one long road and I felt it would be a good challenge for myself to capture that visual and see how well I can recreate it.
The original project was the digital painting which I did during school. I use Maya mental ray for lighting and finish up in photoshop by touching up some areas I would have done in Nuke.
